Alaska Airlines wifi is offered FREE to all passengers onboard Alaska Airlines flights. It has streaming-fast speeds that allow you to binge-watch your favorite shows, use messaging apps, or even do some online shopping just like how you’d do it on the ground.

This wifi service is provided by Gogo wifi, one of the leading inflight internet and entertainment provider for airlines and flyers. Passengers can avail of this free wifi on all Alaskan Airlines flights although a few 737-9 MAX and Q400 planes might not have this internet system.

Alaska Airlines Wifi Now Uses Satellite Technology

For the not-so-techy-flyers, satellite wifi basically means 20x faster internet speed than basic inflight internet. An antenna is installed on top of the aircraft which allows it to connect to a network of orbiting satellites, unlike basic inflight wifi that connects to cell towers on the ground.

Additionally, satellite wifi also gives flyers internet access even while waiting at boarding gates so they stay connected all throughout their journey.

In January 2022, Alaska Airlines announces that 75% of its fleet now uses satellite wifi and it’s available on all aircraft flying North American routes. However, Alaska wifi isn’t available on 737-9 MAX or Q400 planes or flights going to Hawaii, Mexico (but available in Mazatlan), or Costa Rica.
