Key Points On The Capital One Transfer Bonus To British Airways
The Capital One 33% transfer bonus will run from August 1, 2021 to August 31, 2021. Typically, Capital One has a 2:1.5 transfer ratio to British Airways so if you factor in the 33% bonus, cardholders will now benefit from a 1:1 transfer ratio.
But is it worth it converting your Capital One Miles to British Airways Avios? First of all, you need to remember that British Airways uses a distance-based award chart. This is a good thing because you’re only charged with miles based on the distance you’ve flown – so shorter flights mean cheaper award prices.
Some airlines use a zone-based award pricing structure so whether you’re flying to Europe from Los Angeles or from New York, you’ll be charged with a fixed number of miles.
What’s also great about British Avios is that you can transfer them to Iberia Plus and Aer Lingus AerClub using the Combine My Avios feature. This allows you to have more flexibility and value when redeeming your miles.

Thoughts From Points Panda
Hopefully, Capital One will extend this 1:1 transfer ratio throughout the end of 2021 or better yet, make it a permanent feature. For now, it’s just best to take advantage of this 33% transfer bonus if it does make sense to do it.
It’s not recommended to convert your Capital One Venture Miles to British Airways Avios just for the sake of getting the 33% bonus. You must only convert your Venture Miles if you have an upcoming trip in mind especially short-haul journeys. Another reason why you’d want to convert your Venture Miles to Avios is if you want to keep your Avios from expiring. Your Avios will be removed from your account if you don’t spend or acquire at least one Avios within 3 years.
Other than these two reasons, It is never a good idea to convert flexible credit card points to airline miles without an immediate use in mind. doing so exposes them to too greater risk of devaluation!
