How To Get The Marriott 25% Bonus
You can buy Marriott points on your Marriott Bonvoy account. After you’ve signed in, just click your name (top right) and then click ‘Buy Points‘ which is listed under the Available Point Balance.
Marriott points typically cost 1.25 cents each without bonuses. For example, purchasing a maximum of 100,000 points will cost you $1250.
But with the 25% bonus, purchasing 100,000 points will give you a bonus of 25,000 points, and then you’d get a total of 125,000 points at the same cost of $1250. Factoring the bonus in, the rate goes down to only 1 cent per Marriott point.
Marriott has been very generous when it comes to bonuses on points purchases. In the past, we’ve seen the bonuses go as high as 50%! However, if you need to book a stay ASAP then the 25% bonus would still make a very good deal!
Panda Tips: Maximize Award Redemptions By Pooling Points
Every Marriott Member can only buy up to 100,000 points per calendar year. However, Marriott allows members to share points with other members on up to 100,000 points per calendar year, which opens up opportunities to pool more points together.
Here’s an example:
Let’s say a 3-night stay at a hotel costs 150,000 points, two Marriott members can buy 60,000 points each and get a total of 150,000 points after your factor in the 25% bonus. Here’s the breakdown:
- Member 1: 60,000 points + 15,000 points (25% bonus) = 75,000 points
- Member 2: 60,000 points + 15,000 points (25% bonus) = 75,000 points
Total Pooled Points: 150,000 Points
With points sharing, there are endless possibilities for getting the best Marriott award redemptions, and the best part is you can share points with anyone.
The only requirement for a member to share points with another member is that the receiving member should have an account that has been active for a minimum number of days.
A Marriot member can receive points in his/her account after 30 days if the member had qualifying activities within those 30 days. If the Marriott member did not have any qualifying activities, he or she can only receive points after 90 days.
What counts as Qualifying Activities? Earning and redeeming points are counted as Qualifying Activities. However, sharing points, receiving points, or earning points through social media programs do not count as Qualifying Activities.
