Wyndham Rewards credit card: get a ton of perks, discounts, sign-up bonuses, and points.
Having a Wyndham Rewards credit card comes in handy if you want to stay at Wyndham hotels and resorts. Not only can you experience their luxurious properties but you’ll also get a ton of perks, discounts, welcome bonuses, and points.
And to put the cherry on top, it’s one of the best travel credit cards that doesn’t have an annual fee so it’s more savings for you. However, there is another version of this card that comes with a $75 fee and offers a different set of rewards and perks.
But let’s focus on the no-annual-fee version of the card, shall we? The no-annual-fee Wyndham Rewards credit card is one of the easiest cards to claim a sign-up bonus. Plus, you get to earn points even if you spend outside of Wyndham properties such as gas, groceries, and utility spending.
Wyndham Rewards Credit Card Basics
Earning Points
You’ll earn a generous sign-up bonus once you make your first purchase or balance transfer. What’s good about it is that the sign-up bonus alone can be redeemed for up to two free nights on Wyndham properties.
- Earn 3 points for every dollar spent at Wyndham hotels, resorts, and other properties.
- Earn 2 points for ever dollar spent on gas, utilities, and groceries (this excludes at Target and Walmart).
- Earn 1 points for every dollar spent on all other purchases.
Wyndham has numerous subsidiary brands under its name where you can transfer your points to. You can also transfer your points to different partners and businesses outside of the Wyndham group, making your points more valuable.
Here are some examples of redemptions you can make with your points.
- Free hotel stays at the Wyndham portfolio such as La Quinta, Ramada, Super 8, Microtel, and Travelodge (costs about 7500 – 30000 points per night).
- Discounted stays (1500, 3000, or 6000 points per night plus co-pay).
- Move your points to over a dozen transfer partners such as Frontier, United, American, and Amtrak.
- Get a gas discount at Marathon gas stations.
- Gift cards, merchandise, and charity donations.

Fees And Charges
Apart from the card’s no-annual-fee feature, the card doesn’t have foreign transaction fees too. However, there’s a balance transfer fee of $5 or 3% of the total transferred amount (whichever is greater).
The card does have an introductory period. It has a 0% balance transfer intro APR for 15 months and a 0% purchase intro APR for 6 months.
Wyndham Rewards Credit Card Benefits
Most people think that no-annual-fee credit cards don’t have that much value but that’s where they’re wrong. The Wyndham Rewards credit card has a couple of perks that can compete with other credit cards in the market.
Easy-To-Earn Welcome Bonus
You just need to make a purchase or a balance transfer and you can easily get your 15,000 bonus points. It’s pretty easy, unlike other credit cards that have a spending requirement to unlock the bonus.
Take note that a free night at Wyndham properties start at 7500 points which means that you can instantly redeem your 15,000 bonus points for two nights at most if you want too.
Extra Hotel Benefits
You’ll earn more points by using your credit card and by registering for a Wyndham Rewards loyalty program.
For example, you’ll earn 3 points per dollar by using your card on any eligible Wyndham property and at the same time, earn an additional 10 points per dollar by spending on hotel stays as a member of Wyndham’s loyalty program.
If you book a $400 room, that would get you 5200 points in total – 4000 points by being a loyalty program member and 1200 points by being a Wyndham cardholder.
Instant Gold Status
Non-cardholders typically need to book at least five nights in a calendar year to earn Gold status. However, Wyndham Rewards credit cardholders automatically get Gold status and are entitled to free WIFI, late checkouts, priority room selection, and many more.
High Earning Rate For Non-Travel Purchases
Most zero-annual-fee travel credit cards have a low earning rate (usually 1 or 1.5 points per dollar) on gas, grocery, and utility purchases. However, the Wyndham Rewards credit card has a competitive 2 points per dollar rate.
This makes the card very valuable since it’s an all-around card that you can use on different types of purchases and help you earn points faster.
Pros
- Transferable points
- Extensive hotel network
- Unlimited points earning
- No travel blackout dates when you pay for a room with only points
- Partial payment of points and cash for hotel stays
Cons
- Points expire if not used after four years
- Blackout dates may apply when paying with partial points.
- Wyndham Rewards took away their flat rate of 15000 points for award nights
Who Is The Wyndham Rewards Credit Card Good For?
Let’s get straight to the point, shall we? The Wyndham Rewards credit card is suited for travelers who love staying at Wyndham hotels and want a simple rewards structure.
The card’s 3:2:1 structure is pretty straightforward unlike other cards that have rotating categories.
It’s also perfect for people who are always on the road because the Wyndham has an extensive network of hotels that can earn you big points. Plus, you get to earn 2 points per dollar on gas purchases too.
Tips On Using Your Card
- You should at least memorize Wyndham’s list of brand subsidiaries so you’re always sure that you’ll earn points.
- Never redeem for merchandise
- Save your points for more expensive hotel stays. If you’re staying at a budget hotel, just pay in cash or at least pay half in cash.

Considering To Get Another Card?
The Chase Sapphire Preferred is another option that you may want to consider. Yes, it does have a $95 annual fee but it also has flexibility when it comes to points earning.
The card earns 2 points per dollar on dining and travel purchases then 1 point per dollar on other purchases. This allows you to choose other hotels outside of Wyndham’s network and still earn a pretty decent 2 points per dollar.
