Qatar Airways has launched three promotions to run to allow Qatar Privilege Club members to re-qualify or increase their tier status much easier. Through March 2023, members will benefit from reduced qualification requirements, double points on flights flown within the promotion period, and a discount on purchased points.
Reduced Tier Qualification Requirement
Qatar Airways has announced some reductions to their Privilege Club tier qualification requirements for members whose status is renewing before March 31, 2023.
Qatar’s reduction in tier qualification requirements means some existing privilege club members will automatically re-qualify given the new, lowered parameters. If not, the reduction in requirements could bring tier re-qualification within reach.
This promotion only applies to members up for renewal before March 31, 2023. Members due to renew after this will be subject to existing requirements.
Earn Double QPoints
To help members earn those needed points, Qatar has also announced that members will earn double Qpoints on flights booked between 8 January 2023 and 31 March 2023 and flown before 30 June 2023. This promotion gives members some significant leverage to earn major points to qualify for their desired tier and, for those wanting to experience the famous Qatar Qsuites, even the potential to re-qualify in just one round trip fare. Qatar has a calculator that can help you determine how many points you can earn when flying a given segment.

- Members are only eligible for double Qpoints on Qatar-marketed and Qatar-operated flights.
- To qualify, Privilege Club main members should quote their membership number at the time of booking. Non-members can sign up to become a member to get a membership number before booking.
- Bookings must be made between 8 January 2023 and 31 March 2023. Flights must be flown before 30 June 2023.
- Existing bookings that will occur within the promotion are not eligible for the promotion, only new bookings.

Purchase QPoints at a Discount
And in case members are just a few points short of that next tier, Qatar has also announced a sale on Qpoints that can help members make up the difference. While we don’t think this isn’t the most cost-effective method to qualify if you are short a ton of Qpoints, why not if you find yourself only a few tens of points short?
- The promotion ends March 31, 2023.
- Qpoints are normally priced at $25 USD and are discounted to $15 USD during the promotion.
OneWorld Status
Qatar is also a part of the OneWorld airline alliance, meaning points earned on flights by other OneWorld airlines would also go towards your collective OneWorld status giving you benefits on all OneWorld airline partners. So if a Qatar flight doesn’t fit your travel plans, flights on another partner airline may help you achieve your tier status goals. Equally, achieving a tier status by utilizing this promo would also help you qualify for benefits with other OneWorld partners.
Final Thoughts
If you’ve always wanted to try the luxurious and recently updated, Qsuites, Qatar has certainly given us an excuse to. Especially for OneWorld flyers, these Qatar promotions could be their one-way ticket to shiny new membership status. While it’s not clear why Qatar has decided to offer these promotions, we do think taking advantage of them can certainly be a benefit.
