The Delta SkyMiles® Blue American Express Card is the entry-level Delta co-brand card from American Express. The no-annual-fee  (See Rates and Fees) card delivers a good set of perks and benefits and features a generous welcome bonus that you would typically associate with a fee-paying card.  

While the card does not have the most generous earning rates compared to other fee-paying cards, it can still be the perfect companion for a wide range of Delta Flyers and SkyMiles users!

Welcome Bonus

So the 10,000 SkyMiles welcome bonus from the Delta SkyMiles® Blue American Express Card is nothing to write home about; however, they are nothing to be sneezed at either.

Whether you use to allocate them towards an award redemption or redeem them for $100 of value by using the Pay with Miles facility when booking on Delta.com, you are still ahead. A $100 worth of welcome bonus is excellent for a card with no annual fee.

Good Earning Rates

The Delta SkyMiles® Blue American Express Card offers good earning rates, especially when you fly Delta, since you will pick up 2X SkyMiles per dollar spent. While other fee-paying cards can earn you a bigger multiplier per dollar, they also carry a bigger annual fee to match.

When overseas, the card is a real winner and can be your go-to card for foreign dining; the card earns 2X SkyMiles at restaurants abroad and carries no foreign transaction fees. This means there will be no unpleasant additional charges on your account.

Final Thoughts

If you are a regular Delta Flyer but not to the point where you will reach elite status, then the Delta SkyMiles® Blue American Express Card can be an excellent fit. This is especially true if you take shorter trips and just want to boost your SkyMiles earnings when booking your flights, as well as get a 20% discount on any snacks or purchases you make onboard and don’t want to make a significant commitment in terms of annual fees.

On the other hand, if you want to receive even more perks and benefits and are happy to make the commitment of an annual fee. Then either the Delta SkyMiles® Gold American Express Card or the premium Delta SkyMiles® Reserve American Express Card may be a better fit for you.
