The Amex Blue Delta SkyMiles is one of the four cards that belong to the Amex-Delta co-branded credit card portfolio. It doesn’t have a lot of luxurious features compared to its counterparts, but it does deserve a spot on your wallet.

It’s practically perfect for beginners who don’t want to incur annual fees but still want to earn miles whenever they wish to fly with Delta Airlines.

Amex Blue Delta SkyMiles Key Features

The card’s welcome bonus for new cardholders is 10,000 miles. You’ll get it if you spend $500 within three months of getting the card.

For its rewards program, you’ll be earning 2 miles per $1 both on eligible Delta purchases and restaurant expenses. Meanwhile, you’ll earn 1 mile per $1 on other purchases like gas and phone bills. You’ll also earn a 20% cashback on in-flight Delta purchases.

It also has zero annual fees and transaction fees, making it a good starter card if you want to build your credit.

Additional Amex Blue Delta SkyMiles Benefits

The Amex Blue Delta Skymiles doesn’t have premium travel perks like the Amex Platinum Delta’s free access to Delta SkyClubs or the Amex Gold Delta’s free checked bag and priority boarding.

However, this doesn’t mean that the card isn’t valuable because it comes with great benefits that you can use for your travels, such as:

Car rental insurance – You’re entitled to damage or theft insurance as long as you use your credit card to pay for car rentals.

Exclusive Entertainment Access – Cardholders will get priority access to ticket presales and other card member-only events.

Warranty Extensions – Cardholders can get an extended warranty of up to one year from partner merchants.

Payment Flexibility – You can use your miles to pay for flights that you want. You’ll also have the flexibility of carrying your balances with interest to the next due date.

Purchase Protection – Eligible purchases made within 90 days have accidental damage or theft insurance.

Free ShopRunner Membership – Active cardholders get a complimentary ShopRunner membership. They are entitled to free two-day shipping from over 100 online merchants.

Global Assist® – Cardholders who fly more than 100 miles can get 24/7 assistance. This covers situations like missing luggage, passport referrals, or medical emergencies – provided that they shoulder the expenses.

What Points Panda Recommends

The Amex Blue Delta SkyMiles doesn’t have a lot of travel perks. Make sure to redeem the bonus miles within the first three months of signing up.

You won’t be able to maximize the card’s potential if you’re not a Delta loyalist. Don’t even bother getting this if you use different airlines. You need to spend on eligible Delta purchases and partner restaurants to earn 2x miles per dollar.

The card is perfect for Delta flyers who want a credit card with zero annual fees and can earn decent rewards.

However, if you want to have a lucrative rewards program, free checked bag, priority boarding, and VIP access to SkyClubs, you might want to consider getting the other Amex-Delta credit cards.
