Delta Sky Club lounges are a paradise for Delta frequent flyers! It’s a place where you can escape the hustle and bustle of the airport, and enjoy hearty meals and fancy drinks. Some lounges even have working stations, sleeping areas, and shower rooms!
The Sky Club is one of the largest lounge networks with over 50 lounges globally. However, it’s become very exclusive in recent years and only a handful of people can have access to the lounges. Don’t worry because we’ll discuss how you can get access to these lounges.

What Are Delta Sky Club Lounges?
Just like any other airline, Delta has its own branded airport lounge called the Sky Club, which is a huge network of airline lounges found in over 200 locations. That’s a lot of lounges for sure, however, finding a Delta lounge isn’t the problem – it’s how to access one.
A few years ago Delta stopped selling single-visit tickets to customers so the only paid option left was an annual membership which you can pay in cash or in miles. Plus, Delta also issued a new policy in June 2022, which basically stated that:
- Guests can only access a Delta lounge within 3 hours of their scheduled departing flight and within 3 hours of their scheduled returning flight.
- Guests who are waiting for their connecting flight can access a Delta lounge anytime before their departure time (same-day round-trip flights don’t count as connecting flights).
- Arriving passengers without a connection, with the exception of arriving Delta One passengers, will no longer have access to the lounge.
Sky Club policies have become stricter these days; you can’t just waltz into any lounge even if you have a first-class ticket.

Do take note that each Sky Club is unique so some perks may be available in one location but not in others.

How To Access Sky Club?
The four methods mentioned below are the primary ways on how to get access to Sky Club lounges.
Credit Cards
You can get free access to Sky Club lounges through credit cards, and all you need to do is to sign up to any of the cards below and then book a same-day ticket that is operated by Delta or marketed by WestJet (ticket numbers start with 006).
- American Express Platinum Card – Earn 100,000 points after you use your new card to make $6,000 in purchases in your first six months of account opening.
- American Express Business Platinum Card – Earn 120,000 bonus points after you spend $15,000 on eligible purchases within the first three months of card membership.
- Delta SkyMiles Reserve Business American Express Card -Earn 60,000 bonus miles and 10,000 MQMs after spending $4,000 in the first three months of card membership.
If you have the Platinum or Business Platinum card, you’ll also get a Priority Pass membership which will give you access to more than 7,000+ airport lounges around the world.
Paid Membership
You can purchase an annual Sky Club membership through cash or miles. Here are the two plans below:
- Individual membership – Annual rate of $545 or 54,500 SkyMiles or $50 for 12 monthly installments
- Executive membership – Annual rate of $845 or 84,500 SkyMiles or $75 for 12 monthly installments
Individual memberships give the primary account holder unlimited access for one year. Up to two guests are allowed for a fee of $39 per guest per visit. Meanwhile, executive memberships give unlimited access to the primary cardholder and two guests; each additional guest will pay $39 per visit.
However, it’s worth noting that paying with cash or miles doesn’t give you the best value. For example, you can use the $545 and get a travel credit card that comes with Sky Club access or you can use those 54,500 miles to book a Delta first-class award flight.
Delta SkyMiles are valued at around 1.40 cents each which means that an individual membership would cost about $764 while an executive membership would cost $1183.
Medallion Status
There are four tiers in the Delta Medallion Program: Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond. Each tier offers a set of valuable travel perks but if you want to have Sky Club access, you should try to reach Diamond status.
Diamond Medallion members may use one of their three Choice Benefits for an individual Sky Club membership or use two of those three Choice Benefits for an executive Sky Club membership.
For those Diamond members who already have Sky Club access with an eligible credit card, they may avail the SkyClub Guest pass and bring up to two guests for free.
Delta One Tickets
Flyers who are traveling on a domestic or international Delta One flight may enter Sky Club Lounges even if they don’t have elite status. Passengers on domestic flights that are connecting to a same-day international Delta One flight also have Sky Club access.
Take note that your flight must be labeled as “Delta One” if you want to have lounge access because first-class flights on long-haul international routes aren’t eligible for lounge access.
Alternatively, people who are flying first or business with a SkyTeam airline partner on a same-day international flight can also have Sky Club access.

Bottomline: Is It Worth It?
If you have complimentary Sky Club access, then definitely yes. Being able to relax and unwind before a long flight makes a difference.
But if you’re purchasing a Sky Club membership? Not really! Better put your cash to good use by getting a credit card that offers Sky Club access or use your SkyMiles to book award flights.
