Delta Comfort Plus is a Delta premium economy cabin that offers better seats, better food, and better customer service than standard economy cabins (Main Cabin and Basic economy).
A few decades ago, flyers could only choose among three cabin options on a plane: economy, business, or first class. However, a lot of airlines, including Delta, felt the need to create a middle ground product to cater to passengers who want to have an upgraded flight experience from standard economy seats but not at a price that’s as expensive as first-class or business class.
Hence, Delta Comfort Plus was created. But the biggest question that everyone is asking, is that is it worth it? Does paying a few hundred bucks justify the extra comfort and features it provides? Let’s find out!

What Is Delta Comfort Plus?
Since 2015, Delta has expanded its flight class options to 6 classes (from lowest to highest):
- Basic Economy
- Main Cabin
- Comfort Plus
- Delta Premium Select
- First Class
- Delta One
Delta Comfort Plus offers upgraded flight benefits from the two other economy options such as extra legroom, complimentary drinks, free in-flight entertainment, priority boarding, and more.
Delta Comfort Plus vs. Delta Premium Select
In recent years, Delta added a new seat offering called the Delta Premium Select, a premium economy class higher than Comfort Plus and is available on a few select international routes.
The main difference between Delta Comfort Plus vs Delta Premium Select is the seat pitch and seat width. Comfort Plus seats have a width of 17.2-18″ and a pitch of 34-35″ while Premium Select seats have a width of 18.5″ and a pitch of 38″.
The Premium Select’s availability also depends on the aircraft that you’re flying on. For example, the Delta Premium Select is the only Delta premium economy cabin available on the Airbus A350 (359) and it’s located between Delta One and the Economy. However, both the Premium Select and Comfort Plus premium economy cabins are available on the A330-900neo and are both located between Delta One and Economy.
Delta Comfort Plus Benefits
Just like the name implies, Delta Comfort Plus comes with an array of benefits that will make your entire flight experience a comfortable one. Here’s what to expect:
- Get up to 4 more inches of additional legroom than standard economy. Also, Comfort Plus seats have 34 inches of pitch and 35 inches of recline.
- Free premium Delta in-flight entertainment with Delta Studio (depends on availability)
- Seats are located near the front of the aircraft.
- Free snacks, hot drinks, beer, wine, and cocktails.
- Dedicated overhead bin space.
- Get complimentary Sky Priority access which gives you priority service at check-in, baggage drop, boarding, and immigration.
- Complimentary Amenities such as pillows, sleeping kits, and blankets (available on long-haul international flights).
Delta Comfort Plus does not come with free checked bags so you’d have to pay for fees that are similar to Main Cabin. However, some routes (especially international ones) might come with free checked bags so make sure to check your the inclusions of your itinerary.

How To Book Delta Comfort Plus Seats
You can purchase Comfort Plus seats directly on the Delta Airlines website, either with cash or miles. Input the necessary details on the booking page, such as the destination, number of passengers, and dates.
If you want to pay with miles, check the “Shop with Miles” box. If you want to see the best Comfort Plus fares, click the “Best Fares For” drop-down button and select Delta Comfort+.
Comfort Plus seats are typically a few hundred bucks more expensive than Main Cabin seats. A flight from JFK to ATL starts at $718.

Earn Skymiles With Credit Cards: Save Money On Delta Comfort Plus Flights
Traditionally, you earn 5 Skymiles per $1 when flying on Delta-operated flights, plus bonus miles depending on your Medallion Status. However, you can also earn Skymiles with co-branded credit cards and credit cards from transfer partners.
Co-branded credit cards are the best way to earn Skymiles. They come with big welcome bonuses plus a chance to earn Skymiles on the cards’ spending categories. Plus, the travel benefits it comes with are specific to Delta products and services. Here are some cards you can apply for:
